Lightness Mlowola

Lightness Charles Mlowola is a public health specialist and strategist who operates across advocacy, social accountability and monitoring, and partnership building. As a consultant at GHV, Lightness is currently supporting the Global Financing Facility (GFF) Civil Society and Youth Engagement, specifically facilitation of civil society coordination and support.  

Lightness brings nine years of experience in civil society capacity building, strategy development, facilitation, and designing transformative initiatives that address pressing social challenges. She contributes extensive expertise in strengthening primary health care; maternal, newborn and child health; nutrition; adolescent sexual reproductive health; and health financing.  

Previously, she worked for six years as a policy advocacy and monitoring manager at Health Promotion Tanzania. During her time there she served as a point of contact for the Tanzania CSOs GFF Coordinating group – leading and supporting a group of 35 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to amplify their voices and meaningfully engage in GFF processes, including enhancing transparency and accountability for GFF from key stakeholders (World Bank, The Ministry of Health and President’s Office – Regional and Local Government Authority Ministry).  

Lightness holds an MA in public health from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and a BA in sociology from St. Augustine University of Tanzania.

Lightness lives with her family in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In her free time, she enjoys reading novels, writing journals, and hanging out with friends on Fridays.
