As a senior consultant with GHV, Esther helps partners achieve objectives in women’s empowerment, nutrition, climate change, and agriculture integration. She has supported teams at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, The Legume Systems Innovation Lab, and CGIAR, among others.
Esther has more than 20 years of deep expertise in smallholder agriculture and agri food systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. She specializes in gender integration, capacity building, monitoring, and evaluation.
Previously, Esther worked as a gender senior scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Institute in Kenya.
Esther holds a BS in agriculture and home economics from Egerton University in Kenya, a MS in agriculture and development economics from Wageningen University and Research Centre in The Netherlands, and a PhD in agriculture and development economics from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She lives and works from Kenya and has supported programs in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Mali, and India. She raised five boys who are now young adults.
